Bio

Eric  currently serves as the Interim Director for the Eastern Illinois University Health and Counseling Services, overseeing the university’s health service, counseling center, student insurance, and health promotion programs.   During the majority of his 23 years at EIU, he has led campus health promotion and prevention education efforts, and student affairs assessment practices.  Since 2009, he has also directed the Illinois Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Other Drug, and Violence Prevention, overseeing statewide training and professional development for higher education practitioners implementing campus substance abuse programming.

 

Davidson possesses a Ph.D. in Health Education from Southern Illinois University, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University.  He is also both a Certified Masters Community Health Education Specialist and a Certified Senior Prevention Specialist. 

 

During his career Eric has held leadership positions and been active in the American College Health Association, Mid-America College Health Association, Illinois Society for Public Health Education, NASPA: Student Affairs Professionals and Administrators, The BACCHUS Peer Education Network/BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA, Illinois Consortium of Student Health Programs, and the Illinois Suicide Prevention Alliance.

 

Eric has been happily married for 24 years.  He and his wife Jill have 2 daughters and a son.  In his spare time, Eric is active in Scouts BSA, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster.  Eric also enjoys Star Wars, 80’s music, outdoor dutch oven cooking, and reading.
